About Brian Vicente
A national leader in cannabis law and policy, Brian Vicente played a key role in drafting and passing Amendment 64, which legalized adult-use cannabis in Colorado in 2012. Since then, he has become a driving force behind cannabis and psychedelics reform both in the U.S. and abroad.
Under Brian’s leadership, Vicente LLP has grown into a powerhouse legal firm with approximately 40 attorneys across four offices. His impact also extends to public service, as he served on Gov. Jared Polis’ 2018 transition team. The firm has also expanded its practice to psychedelics alongside cannabis and hemp with the subsequent state legalization of healing centers.
“There’s been a bit of a revolution in the last couple decades,” said Vicente. “Amendment 64 was the first legalization law in the history of the globe at a state level, so that really put Colorado on the map. In terms of cannabis reform, now we have 24 other states that have copied the Colorado model.”
Brian has been consistently recognized for his legal work and leadership in cannabis policy. Since 2020, Chambers and Partners USA has ranked Brian as one of the top cannabis attorneys in the nation. Additionally, he was recognized by Best Lawyers© from 2021-2025, named a "Cannabis Law Trailblazer" by the National Law Journal in 2018, and has been included in 5280 magazine's list of "Denver's Top Lawyers" every year since 2015. Adding to his impressive list of recognitions, in 2022 he was listed as one of High Times' "Top 100 Influential People in Cannabis" and was recognized as one of Law360's Cannabis MVPs of 2022.
