As part of this year’s lineup, Vicente LLP founding partner and psychedelics attorney Joshua Kappel will present “New Laws and Old Medicines: Opportunities & Tensions in the Current Psychedelic Reform Movement” on October 25.
Drawing from his experience as co-author and campaign chair of Colorado’s Natural Medicine Health Act (NMHA), Joshua will examine how the movement to create access to psychedelic medicine is defined by a series of contrasts: modernity versus tradition, science versus spirituality, and safety versus inclusivity.
He will discuss how the NMHA became the first U.S. law to create safe access to natural psychedelic medicines in a way that is grounded in equity and conscious capitalism, while also protecting legacy communities and existing medicine keepers.
