Heather Kumer to Discuss Zoning at NJ Planning & Redevelopment Conference

VS counsel Heather Kumer will participate in the New Jersey Planning and Redevelopment Conference on June 10, 2021 at 2 p.m. ET.  

Heather, who focuses her practice in the areas of real estate, land use, environmental/sustainable development, municipal, regulatory, and cannabis law, will join panelists from the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission, Minorities for Medical Marijuana, InFIELD Consulting, and Cannabis Advisory Group for the session, "What the Zone? Cannabis in NJ and the Transition to Adult Use.

With legal adult-use cannabis now a reality in New Jersey, the session will identify economic and community development opportunities and what NJ communities need to do in order to capture it. As the newly adopted adult-use cannabis legislation is codified through the rulemaking process, insights as to how the planning and development community can prepare the cannabis infrastructure necessary to support this new industry. With the social justice and inclusionary requirements of the legislation, how might this translate to on-the-ground opportunities for communities and their residents? The panel will look at lessons learned from within the New Jersey medical expansion efforts as well as other states while offering insights as to what's to come.

New Jersey Planning and Redevelopment Conference

New Jersey Future and  APA New Jersey will present a two-day virtual conference on June 10-11, 2021 featuring a multitude of timely sessions as the state restarts, recovers, and reimagines land use in the rapidly changing and post-pandemic environment.

The Conference will feature over 35 sessions, a virtual exhibit area, and ways to connect with fellow attendees as it brings together bold ideas, innovative solutions, proven concepts, and best practices for creating better, more inclusive, and equitable places where people live, work, and play. All sessions are being submitted for Certification Maintenance (CM) credits from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) and nine sessions have credits approved for Continuing Legal Education (CLE).
