Christian Sederberg and Jordan Wellington Recognized as 'Top Social Equity Cannabis Power Players' by Blizzy Magazine

Sep 17, 2020

Blizzy Magazine, a new publication targeting the African American cannabis consumer, recently recognized VS attorneys Christian Sederberg and Jordan Wellington in the magazine’s inaugural list of “Top Social Equity Cannabis Power Players.”

“These trailblazing entrepreneurs, executives and leaders stand out for their tireless efforts to ensure equity across the cannabis industry landscape. They have been selected for this distinction for their recognition of the present inequities within this burgeoning new field... Our honorees represent the best of what the industry has to offer. They serve as counselors, advisors and points of contact to lead, guide and direct those interested in pursuing employment, training and business development in the cannabis space.”  - Blizzy Magazine

Since the inception of the firm more than ten years ago, Christian has mobilized Vicente Sederberg LLP and VS Strategies to support a variety of initiatives to foster social equity in the cannabis industry and repair damage inflicted by the war on drugs. Under his leadership, VS and VSS have dedicated significant time and resources including participation in regulatory working groups and providing policy recommendations to officials at every level of government.

VS continues to provide pro bono services to several social equity (SE) and economic empowerment (EE) program participants across multiple states, and recently established a scholarship fund to offer free continuing education to other attorneys who work with SE and EE applicants in Massachusetts. VS also helped develop and provides pro bono services for Denver’s record-sealing program Turn Over a New Leaf, and expungement clinics organized by The Color of Cannabis and National Expungement Week.

Jordan directly contributed to many of the above initiatives, and most recently spearheaded a legislative effort in support of automatic record sealing for cannabis offenses and assisted in drafting and passing Colorado’s cannabis social equity bill (HB20-1424). He is now serving on the implementation working group for the bill.

Much of VS and VSS’s work of this nature is somewhat “behind the scenes” and we are truly honored that Christian and Jordan were recognized alongside the many influential individuals involved in or supportive of a more equitable cannabis industry. About Blizzy Magazine — A Message from the Publisher, Alfonzo Porter

“Welcome to Blizzy Magazine! We are excited about the launch of our new publication focused on the African American cannabis consumer. In this inaugural edition, we provide a spotlight on those who are key players in this rapidly growing marijuana industry. These individuals represent the “go-to” sources in the Rocky Mountain Region for advice, guidance and counsel regarding best practices and opportunities in the cannabis field.

The prevalent themes for this month are diversity, inclusion and equity. Therefore, the larger question has become, how can African Americans take advantage of the tremendous opportunities for both employment and ownership in the cannabis space? With national legalization ont eh horizon, the time could not be better for African Americans and other people of color to stake their claim in what is clearly becoming the next big money-making industry.

Bizzy Magazine is designed to become your source for all things cannabis—including legislative updates, products, jobs, business partnerships, news events, lifestyle and entertainment. As a community that has suffered most from the so-called “War on Drugs,” African Americans are now being presented with unique opportunities to turn the page on a devastating chapter of incarceration and imprisonment to emerge victorious by leveraging what was once a source of pain into a mountain of profit—legally!”
