Brandon Kurtzman Joins BofC Live Podcast to Discuss How New York is Approaching Cannabis Legalization

Jan 25, 2022

VS partner Brandon Kurtzman recently sat down with Business of Cannabis to discuss the cannabis market that's on everyone's minds: New York. Since the deadline passed for New York municipalities to opt out of permitting retail and social consumption lounge licenses, the focus now moves to monitoring the local zoning that will regulate where the other types of licensees can be located. This will shape the next phase: real estate.

They also discussed New York's strong commitment to social equity and how the state's program differs from other states, especially through the thoughtful appointments to the CCB and OCM, and Gov. Kathy Hochul's announcement of the creation of a $200 million public-private fund to support social equity applicants.
