Overview

Sean Clancy serves as counsel at Vicente LLP’s Oregon office, where he advises clients on business and intellectual property matters across highly regulated industries, including cannabis, psychedelics, consumer products, entertainment media, food and beverage, healthcare, software, aerospace and emerging technologies.

As an intellectual property attorney, Sean advises high-value brands, creators and technology companies on trademark and copyright protection, rights of publicity and privacy, trade secrets, confidentiality, product development and licensing. In his business and corporate practice, he negotiates and prepares legal documents and counsels clients on matters ranging from entity formation and day-to-day operations to complex transactions, commercial contracts, regulatory compliance and disputes.

Prior to joining Vicente, Sean served as a partner at Emerge Law Group, where he represented entrepreneurs, creators and companies on sophisticated business and intellectual property matters. In 2019, he was also part of the small team of attorneys that researched and drafted Oregon’s Psilocybin Services Act (“Measure 109”).

Earlier in his career, Sean managed his own law firm while serving as outside counsel on specialized business and intellectual property issues for both large and small firms. He also worked at the entertainment and intellectual property boutique Day & Koch LLP.

Sean earned his Juris Doctor from Lewis & Clark Law School. While in law school, he served on the Lewis & Clark Law Review, the Small Business Legal Clinic, the Lewis & Clark Legal Clinic and the United States District Court for the District of Oregon under Chief Judge Ann Aiken.
