
Overview
Carl Werner is a partner at Vicente LLP, where he advises clients in several areas of law, largely focusing on corporate and transactional matters.
He has successfully guided many clients from startup to exit or IPO and beyond, as well as advising on items such as mergers and acquisitions, debt financings, private placements, opinion letters, c-suite compensation and commercial transactions. Carl’s deep experience in financial planning matters and corporate structural items for early-stage and growth companies makes him an asset to clients who are applying for cannabis licenses in jurisdictions with competitive processes.
In addition to his corporate practice, Carl advises clients through regulatory and licensing matters across a variety of states, with a primary focus on Colorado, the South and the Midwest. He also occasionally counsels clients on matters related to maritime and international law.
Carl began working for Vicente as a law clerk in 2014 while attending Harvard Law School, where he served as a research assistant to Professor Charles Nesson and clerked for the ACLU of Massachusetts. He is a former small business owner and tax preparer, and holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Missouri – Columbia.
